Umat Islam & Sambutan Hari Natal: Satu Kupasan

merry-christmas

Siapakah sebenarnya Santa Claus?

Cuba kita lihat beberapa pendapat.

“It is doubtful that Jesus was truly born on December 25th. Some early church fathers believed it to have been December 25th, but the Bible does not say when Jesus was born. The Bible does not even really tell us what season he was born. The early church declared December 25th to be Jesus’ birthday in order to replace a pagan Roman holiday.” (John Benza,Power to Change)

“The exact date of Christ’s birth is not known” (Encyclopaedia of Early Christianity)

“Was Jesus born on December 25? There is no evidence for this date. So then, who decided that Jesus' birth would be celebrated on that date? The early Christian church did not celebrate Jesus' birth. It wasn't until A.D. 440 that the church officially proclaimed December 25 as the birth of Christ. This was not based on any religious evidence but on a pagan feast. Saturnalia was a tradition inherited by the Roman pagans from an earlier Babylonian priesthood. December 25 was used as a celebration of the birthday of the sun god. It was observed near the winter solstice.”

(dari laman web allaboutjesuschrist.org)

Kedua, menurut bukti sejarah, tarikh Disember 25 merupakan sambutan hari kelahiran dewa matahari di zaman empayar Rom. Bila empayar Rom yang dahulunya mengamalkan penyembahan berhala menerima agama Kristian sebagai agama rasmi, perayaan hari kelahiran dewa matahari ditukar-ganti dengan menyambut hari kelahiran Yesus Kristus sebagai anak Tuhan. Ikuti penjelasan dibawah yang dipetik dari buku Jesus Christ, Our Promised Seed:

“In 274 A.D., the Romans designated December 25 as the birthday of the unconquered sun, being the time when the sun begins noticeably to show an increase in light, resulting in longer daylight hours. By 336 A.D., the church in Rome was adapting this festival, spiritualizing its significance as a reference to Jesus Christ and calling it the ‘Feast of the Nativity of the Sun of Righteousness.’ Attempting to Christianize and incorporate the pagan traditions of antiquity, the church in Rome adopted this midwinter holiday celebrating the birth of the sun god as one of its own observances, somewhat changing its significance, but retaining many customs of the pagan festival. As the Roman church spread its influence religiously and militarily, this holiday of December 25 became the most popular date in Christendom to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. A special mass was established for Christ, hence, the name, ‘Christmass,’ abbreviated ‘Christmas.’”

“One widespread explanation of the origin of this date is that December 25 was the Christianizing of the dies solis invicti nati (‘day of the birth of the unconquered sun’), a popular holiday in the Roman Empire that celebrated the winter solstice as a symbol of the resurgence of the sun, the casting away of winter and the heralding of the rebirth of spring and summer.” (Encylopaedia Britannica)

Why We Cannot See God

In The Name of Allah The Most Gracious

Just a sharing from Bro Sirajudeen (IPSI) through my email. May Allah protect us and strengthen our imaan.

Salam, dear brothers & sisters

A short but powerful analogy from Bro. Shah Kirit Gokulal:

'’The atheist usually ask me why we cannot see God if God exist. A simple answer to this would be that not necessarily what we cannot see does not exist.

We cannot see God because God did not provide us with the senses to ‘see’ Him. As an analogy, let say I have created a car. Is the car able to see me? The car cannot see me because I did not create the car with the ability to see me. Just because the car cannot see me does that mean I do not exist?

Despite the car cannot see me, I can see the car! Similarly God can see us in spite of we cannot see God. The very fact the car exist also proves that I (the maker of car) also exist. Similarly the existence of our universe is also the fact in the existence of its Creator.”

Syahadah Gadis Ateist

In The Name of Allah The Most Gracious The Most Merciful

"Semua orang bercakap mengenai Tuhan. Tuhan itulah, Tuhan inilah. Semua orang mahu saya menyembah Tuhan.

"I dont know. Coz I never see Him"

In The Name of Allah The Most Gracious The Most Merciful

A Muslim ask a tourist which is an atheist when he comes to masjid for a visit.
"Why do you  not believe in god?"
"I dont know. Coz I never see Him."
"You may go to the church, temple and they can show you god. But I'm sorry, I cant show you god. Because He is beyond His creation. Nothing cant be compared to Him. We cannot put any image into Him because anything that we can imagine, it's all His creation. Sir, do you know how's this universe come?"
"I dont know..."
"But I know. Its stated in this Book(Quran) which is given to prophet Muhammad 1400 years ago in the desert who cannot read and cannot write. Dont you think it's a miracle?"

"Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one unit of creation), before we clove them asunder? We made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?"

(Al-Anbiya:30)

Then the atheist starting to ask about god. That is how we can approach the atheist. They can be convinced with modern science and facts. Then they will start to think that there's must be 'something' above who created this.

For example Antony Flew, a British philosopher, Oxford professor, and leading champion of atheism for more than fifty years, honestly followed the evidence and renounced his naturalistic faith in 2004. In a published interview with another philosopher, Flew said, "My whole life has been guided by the principle of Plato's Socrates: Follow the evidence, wherever it leads."

After chewing on his scientific worldview for more than five decades, Flew concluded, "A super-intelligence is the only good explanation for the origin of life and the complexity of nature."

Previously, in his central work, The Presumption of Atheism (1976), Flew argued that the "onus of proof [of God] must lie upon the theist." However, at the age of 81, Flew shocked the world when he renounced his atheism because “the argument for Intelligent Design is enormously stronger than it was when I first met it." In his same 2004 interview, Flew shared, "It seems to me that the case for an Aristotelian God who has the characteristics of power and also intelligence, is now much stronger than it ever was before."

The story of Antony Flew reminds us that physics and metaphysics are not mutually exclusive. True science asks us to follow the observational evidence, no matter what the destination. Does life really occur in a naturalistic vacuum? Or do its design, order, and complexity necessitate something more?

Antony Flew is an honest thinker who ultimately acknowledged the existence of God. Like many of us, recognition is a huge step. However, when it comes to the questions of God, purpose, meaning, origins, and destinies, can we rest in mere recognition? What about Dr. Flew’s observations of Intelligent Design -- the immensity, intensity, and intricacy of it all -- don’t they compel us to move forward and seek additional signposts for truth in our life journeys?

(Al-Fussilat:53-54)

*Atheism is traditionally defined as disbelief in the existence of  God. As such, atheism involves active rejection of belief in the existence of God

How to commemorate Rasulullah S.A.W

Assalamu Alaikum dear brothers and sisters in Islam,

In the current atmosphere of Islamophobia, there is much misunderstanding and deep-seated prejudice against Islam and its Prophet (sas). There are many websites run by bigots and hate-mongers who take perverse pleasure in denigrating the person of the Prophet and his followers.

The vast majority of non-Muslims out there are not acquainted with the personality, mission and legacy of Muhammad (sas).

Here is something we Muslims can do to reverse this tide of ignorance and bigotry. In commemorating the birthday of Muhammad al-Mustafa (sas), let us introduce Rasulullah (sas) to our non Muslim friends, colleagues and acquaintances.

E-mail them an article on our Prophet via: http://www.islamreligion.com/articles/2626/.

Send them a free e-book on the same subject: http://www.islamhouse.com/p/246898.

Share with them educational videos: http://thedeenshow.com/show.php?action=listvideo&sid=64.

Download them into your blogs, Facebooks, etc. Let the non-Muslim world be thoroughly exposed to the marvelous beauty of Islam.

Having done all that, make lots of doa that their hearts would be softened and receptive to the message of Ad-Deenul Islam, the true religion of Jesus, the son of Mary (peace and blessings of Allah be upon them).

Prophet Muhammad S.A.W

In The Name of Allah The Most Gracious The Most Merciful

Approaching is the day on which the sun of guidance and mercy rose. On that day, the noblest of all creation was born – Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Almighty Allah sent him to drive people out of darkness into light; He sent him as a source of mercy to all the worlds. By Allah's leave and support, the noble Prophet succeeded in delivering the divine message and attracting a large number of people into becoming devout worshippers of Allah. We, the one and half billion Muslims, are his followers who love and hold him dearer than our children and parents and even our own selves.

One of France's universally known poets and statesmen, Lamartine (1204 [C.E. 1790]-1285 [C.E. 1869]) made official journeys through Europe and America, which gave him the opportunity to have been to Turkey, in the time of Sultan Abd-ul-majid Khan.
See what he says about Muhammad 'alaihis-salam' in his book Histoire de Turquie (History of Turkey):

"Was Muhammad 'sall-Allahu ta'ala alaihi wa sallam' a false prophet? We cannot think so after studying his works and history. For false prophethood means hypocrisy. As falsehood does not have the power of trueness, likewise hypocrisy does not have convincing capacity.

"In mechanics the range of something thrown depends on the power of the thrust. By the same token, the power of a certain source of spiritual inspiration is assessed with the work it accomplishes. A religion, (i.e. Islam), which has carried so heavy a burden, which has spread to such distances, and which has maintained its full power for such a long time, cannot be a lie. It has to be genuine and convincing. Muhammad's 'alaihis-salam' life; his efforts; his courage in attacking and destroying the superstitions and idols in his country; his bravery and valor in standing against the fury of a fire-worshiping nation; his thirteen year endurance to the various attacks, insults and persecutions inflicted on him in Mecca, among his own citizens; his migration to Medina; his incessant encouragements, preaches and admonitions; the holy wars he fought against overwhelmingly superior enemy forces; his spirit for victory; the superhuman confidence he felt at times of greatest afflictions; the patience and trust he displayed even in victory; the determination he showed in convincing others; his endless devotion in worships; his sacred communings with Allahu ta'ala; his death, and the continuation of his fame, honor and victories after his death; all these factual events (and many others untold) indicate that he was by no means a liar, but, on the contrary, an owner of great belief 'sall-Allahu ta'ala alaihi wa sallam'.

"It was this belief and this trust in his Creator that made him put forward a two-staged credo: The first stage consisted of the belief that 'there is one eternal being, who is Allah;' and the second stage inculcated that 'idols are not gods.' In the first stage he informed the Arabs about the existence of Allahu ta'ala, who is one and whom they had not known until that time; and in the second stage he shook from their hands the idols which they had looked on as gods until that time. In short, at a single stroke with the sword he broke the false gods and idols and replaced them with the belief in 'One Allah'.

"This is Muhammad 'alaihis-salam', the philosopher, the orator, the Prophet, the law-giver, the warrior, the enchanter of human thoughts, the maker of new principles of belief, the great man who established twenty gigantic world empires and one great Islamic empire and civilization 'sall-Allahu ta'ala alaihi wa sallam'.

"Let all the criteria used by humanity for the judgement and evaluation of greatness be applied. Will anyone be found superior to him? Impossible." 'sall-Allahu ta'ala alaihi wa sallam'. "If greatness of purpose, smallness of means, and astounding results are the three criteria of human genius, who could dare to compare any great man in modern history with Muhammad? The most famous men created arms, laws and empires only. They founded, if anything at all, no more than material powers which often crumbled away before their eyes. This man moved not only armies, legislations, empires, peoples and dynasties, but millions of men in one-third of the then inhabited world; and more than that, he moved the altars, the gods, the religions, the ideas, the beliefs and souls. . . his forbearance in victory, his ambition, which was entirely devoted to one idea and in no manner striving for an empire; his endless prayers, his mystic conversations with God, his death and his triumph after death; all these attest not to an imposture but to a firm conviction which gave him the power to restore a dogma. This dogma was twofold, the unity of God and the immateriality of God; the former telling what God is, the latter telling what God is not; the one overthrowing false gods with the sword, the other starting an idea with words.

"Philosopher, orator, apostle, legislator, warrior, conqueror of ideas, restorer of rational dogmas, of a cult without images; the founder of twenty terrestrial empires and of one spiritual empire, that is Muhammad. As regards all standards by which human greatness may be measured, we may well ask, is there any man greater than he?"

Even a non-Muslim can defend that Muhammad is a true prophet and messenger of God, how could we as a Muslim "rejected" him.

Website

In The Name of Allah The Most Gracious The Most Merciful

Bersedialah.

Assalamu Alaikum dear brothers and sisters,

As you may well know, there are numerous anti-Islam websites which are designed to portray Islam in a very bad light. The enemies of Islam take perverse delight in condemning the person of Muhammad (pbuh), vilifying the Qur’an and gravely distorting Muslim history. Often Muslims are at loss when it comes to responding to those monstrous allegations, due to lack of knowledge and exposure to the discipline of comparative religion. Here is a list of websites that might come in handy when responding to such wild allegations:

Share it with your fellow Muslims.

Jazakallah.
